And some more ideas.....

This week I am gearing up for more read-throughs, ordering doves for 'Glorious', and birch wallpaper for 'The Foreigner'. The doves will need to be painted silver, and the wallpaper is to put on some of the furniture to make it look rustic and homemade.....

And sometime soon I have to paint the bridge that Roger has completed to look like brick...

Bard to Broadway 2009

Today - we had the first read through of a play from this years' summer season...The Foreigner...it was excellent...very very funny. I love hearing the first read through - the energy of the first time that everyone gets together is exciting and infectious..the promise of fun to come. And we all know how important fun is.....!

Roger brought the set model so the actors could have an idea of how the blocking might work.......!

Strike!

And no play is complete without the strike! Always fun to see who shows up to help with the dirty work.....no divas allowed....so it works out!

The bucket of red stuff is all the fake blood!

Blood Money

Blood Money opened last night....I'm sure there were many who thought it would never happen. It was a play beset by many difficulties - the leading man quit two weeks before opening - and not to be outdone, so did the leading lady!

The building of the set was finally completed (sort of!) - only a week before opening - which meant we had a week to paint and dress it......not an easy task. Volunteers were hustled to help paint and a jukebox was created!

The final touches were completed hours before the dress rehearsal...who was Carol Mitchell?

Peter and the Wolf

Welcome to my page of DRAMA!

Dressing a stage is always a fun experience in the end...but the actual process is a bit like a birth. Lots of excitement and pain. There are many personalities involved in making the stage look interesting and they may not always agree. Quite often the actual theme of the play gets carried out in the drama surrounding it too. So, Peter and the Wolf is a good place to start - because it was fun.....!

Peter and the Wolf was a panto presented by Nanaimo Theatre Group in December 2007. If you want to see what plays they are offering this season go to their site....

I am doing the set dressing for Blood Money - and that's another story.......to be told at a later date....!
